The high-rise building of hotel Kyjev was designed in the Communist era of the 1970's and it used to be the place for dignitaries and businessmen from "friendly countries" to stay. And it certainly looks it both on the outside and within, but many foreign visitors actually appreciate the retro-style, the spirit of the era long gone by that lingers on the premises (that also explains the name of the hotel - Kiev referring to the Ukrainian capital).
